Fun at the Burlesque

Recently my husband and I went to the Adelaide writers festival and while we were there we

attended Adelaide writers week. For those of you who follow me on Facebook and Twitter, you'll know I had a wonderful time.

However, at nights, without children, the subterranean bubbles of freedom sent us champagne giddy and we ran like gypsies to the fringe festival.
One of the highlights of any good contemporary Fringe festival is the Burlesque.
Burlesque has been going through a revival in the last few years, so much so that it was announced in the New York Times in 2008 as having a large part to play in that cities art scene.

Burlesque is ironic, it's intelligent, it's cheeky, and it's fun. It's not what you think it is and it is not going to disappoint you by being something other than what you expect.

Because we already felt like giddy teenagers, it proved to be just the right 'inspiration' for huby and I to create a little magic on our own.

There are great Burlesque acts like Lili St Cyr, Gypsy Rose Lee and more recently Dita Von Tease. But for the more adventurous there is something extra special like a splash of Dirty Martini.
I think one of the things that makes Burlesque so much fun, is that every woman wants to have a go at this some time...

All in all, We had a wonderful, sexy fun time with our week long flirt with Burlesque. I can highly recommend it to those of you who have partners and to those of you who are looking for a partner!

Enjoy
Barbra
